Every year, the Colorado Dermatologic Society schedules an outreach in early May to recognize Skin Cancer Awareness Month and educate Coloradans on proper sun protection. This year, we reached hundreds of visitors who had come to spend some time in the Botanic Garden. Volunteers including community members, University of Colorado dermatology residents, and local dermatologists gathered to educate visitors on the importance of sun protection and the proper use of sunscreen. A few lucky individuals even received mole evaluations from dermatologists. We're hopeful our outreach will convince the people we met to enjoy our beautiful state in a sun-smart way.
If you're interested in volunteering at next year's outreach, please contact Nicole Goddard at the Colorado Dermatologic Society. We'd love your help with this important work.
